Meet the Team: Giah Tawag, TRAVIS Partner Network – Account Executive
It’s another episode of “Meet the Team” where we will be introducing you to members of TRAVIS so that you can get to know the people behind the largest and fastest growing network in Europe and the UK. This episode features – Giah Tawag; Partner Network – Account Executive for the United Kingdom at TRAVIS.
Who are you?
Hi, I’m Giah Tawag! I’m originally from Manila and have been living in the Netherlands for almost five years now. I have a bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts and a background in Advertising and Marketing.
I’m currently based in Tilburg, just a quick 20-minute bike ride to the TRAVIS office which makes for a great workout! I became part of the TRAVIS team back in 2021. Fun fact: I initially applied for a Fleet Sales – Account Executive role. After my first chat with HR, it led me to explore the Partner Sales position — my decision to pursue this has kept me curious and genuinely content with the outcome.
What does a Partner Network – Account Executive do at TRAVIS?
In my role as an Account Executive, my focus revolves around finding and connecting new service locations to our UK network. This role combines elements of business development and account management — finding new service locations for our fleet customers, understanding their way of working, and identifying how best we can work together in making sure that our customers are able to find them and book their services in our map. Once connected, my responsibility extends to facilitating their onboarding process and delivering continuous support until they are fully live in TRAVIS.
The market has witnessed remarkable growth, starting strong with 13 service locations to over 180 in two years– exciting times!
What does a typical day look like?
I can start my morning nice and slow, courtesy of the 1 hr time difference with the UK. However, the routine is anything but typical. It begins with a cup of coffee, then two, or three, then emails. The real action begins at 10:00. Mornings are devoted to account management – involving communication with existing partners, checking bookings, and coordinating with the Fleet Sales team for their requirements and needs. In the afternoons, the focus shifts to sales, connecting with new service locations.
Moreover, I find fulfilment in occasionally participating in and contributing to strategic partnerships with our fuel card partners.
What do you find most challenging in your work?
Navigating rejection, and settling for basic, cold bread lunches are the challenges which get my goat. I’m a strong believer in our product, so when potential service partners decide not to join, it hits hard. The platform holds immense potential, proving highly beneficial for service locations. Most notably, being part of the TRAVIS network makes their services visible and bookable by international fleet companies traveling from the continent to the UK. I’m grateful for my exceptional manager who pushes me, and a super-supportive team that provides a boost when needed.
On the lunch front, happy to report that I’ve upgraded from plain old sandwiches and bring my own meals from time to time.
What do you do when you are not at work?
I enjoy listening to podcasts; Armchair Expert and Smartless top my list. Weekends are for exploring museums, and self-development books keep me engaged. I love to eat. Scratch that – I’m downright obsessed with it. Whether it’s dining out with friends, or trying out new food, or craving hometown meals, I’m all about it. Trying my hand at making Filipino food at home has become a bit of a thing, and of course, video calls are a lifeline to stay connected with family and friends back in the Philippines.
What do you like most about working at TRAVIS?
It’s the people that make TRAVIS stand out for me. The environment here is conducive to everyone’s growth —it’s trusting, supportive, and the management team genuinely believe in everyone’s potential. The team I belong to —Partner Sales team is not only fun, but also hardworking. The dynamic growth, diverse team, and rapid tech development ensure that every day is different, and full of excitement.
Let’s go, TRAVIS!
