TRAVIS Holiday Parking initiative: Ensuring truck drivers spend Christmas with their loved one
Thanks to the Holiday Parking program, initiated by TRAVIS – Europe’s #1 Truck service platform, thousands of truck drivers are able to spend Christmas at home with their loved ones. For several years now, TRAVIS has been at the forefront of ensuring that international truck drivers across Europe get the chance to celebrate Christmas at home, away from the hustle of the road. But never were so many transport companies and its drivers looking for a solution for this big, but mostly overlooked, problem during the Holiday period.
As the holiday season approaches, a notable challenge surfaces for transport companies. Operations temporarily come to a halt, mostly driven by non-operational customers. But also by drivers, who normally are navigating across all of Europe, seeking a well-deserved break. To manage this downtime without incurring unnecessary costs or delays, transport companies strategically park segments of their fleets in secure central locations. Just let drivers return to their home depots with their truck may seem more logical but isn’t the most practical solution, considering the cost and time implications. Instead, companies choose to park segments of their fleets centrally, with plans to transport drivers home via buses, planes, or alternative means before and back after the holidays. This enables drivers to enjoy a temporary break and spend Christmas at home.
However, the critical factor in this strategy is securing these parked vehicles, and in some cases even safeguarding the cargo as well. This necessitates the use of secure parking facilities. In this scenario, TRAVIS emerges as a key player, utilizing not only its existing network of nearly 500 (secured) parking locations but also tapping into its extensive network of transport companies, who, though not typically involved in parking services, are willing to provide solutions during this time of the year.
Max Monkel, TRAVIS Holiday Parking Specialist, stated, “At TRAVIS we worked very hard and are very proud of the succes of this years edition of the Holiday Parking program, allowing thousands of truck drivers to reunite with their families for Christmas. As everyone knows, the days leading up to Christmas are synonymous with chaos, especially in the world of transportation. Each day adds a new puzzle piece, creating a challenging but rewarding journey. The most gratifying moment comes on the final day when every truck is safely parked, and all the drivers, transport planners, parking operators, (and we) can finally embrace the holiday season with our families and loved ones.”
TRAVIS not only streamlines the process of finding secure parking but also ensures that the chosen locations meet the specific requirements of its clients. By actively addressing this challenge, TRAVIS plays a vital role in supporting transport companies during the holiday period, offering a strategic solution to navigate the temporary suspension of operations and ensuring the safety of both vehicles and cargo.
