2024 Holiday Restrictions & Traffic Bans: Plan Accordingly!
During the summer months heavy goods vehicles (7.5+ tonnes) will face traffic bans on many European roads. Deviating from regular routes or driving times can be challenging for carriers, making destinations harder to reach and necessary truck services less accessible on unfamiliar terrain.

Traffic bans & restrictions for Heavy Goods Vehicles in August
The restrictions and bans in this list apply for trucks (HGV) over 7.5 tonnes unless specified otherwise.
France (from July 1st until August 31st)
Exception for special and agricultural vehicles
- Saturdays from 07.00 to 19.00
- Sundays from 00.00 to 22.00
Poland (from June 21st until August 29th)
Until August 29, vehicles over 12 tonnes (Poland allows heavier trucks than other countries) are fully banned from the roads during the following times:
- Fridays from 18.00 to 22.00
- Saturdays from 08.00 to 14.00
- Sundays from 08.00 to 22.00
Germany (from July 1st until August 31st)
- Saturdays from 07.00 to 20.00

Italy (from July 1st until August 31st)
- Friday July 26th from 16.00 to 22.00
- Saturday July 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th from 08.00 to 16.00
- Friday August 2nd and 9th from 16.00 to 22.00
- Saturday August 17th, 24th and 31st from 08.00 to 16.00
- Saturday August 3rd and 10th from 08.00 to 22.00
- Sundays from 09.00 to 22.00
Czech Republic (from July 1st until August 31st)
- Fridays from 17.00 to 21.00
- Saturdays from 07.00 to 13.00
- Sundays from 13.00 to 22.00
Hungary (from July 1st until August 31st)
- Saturday from 15.00 to Sunday 22.00
- From 22.00 on an evening before a public holiday, until 22.00 of that day
- If a public holiday precedes a Saturday or Sunday, the driving restrictions apply nonstop from 08:00 on the first day to 22:00 on the last day.
Slovakia (from July 1st until August 31st)
- Saturdays from 07.00 to 19.00
