TRAVIS Road Services secures a 5 million euro investment from Versteijnen, BOM and Shell Ventures

We are proud to announce that we have raised a venture round investment of 5 million euro’s from Versteijnen, Brabantse Ontwikkelings Maatschappij (BOM) and Shell Ventures.

Via our booking platform, transport companies can find, book, and pay for essential road services, such as truck wash, tank cleaning, truck parking and repair at the right place and time. With the investment, we will be able to accelerate our European growth further.

International scale-up

Dennis van Veggel, our Founder and CEO, founded TRAVIS to solve the inefficient and costly administrative process of finding, booking and paying for road services. Our booking platform connects fleet owners with local road service providers across Europe. Over 1,100 road service locations have been connected, and over 250.000 unique vehicles are currently registered and using the TRAVIS platform. TRAVIS is active in 17 countries and striving for full European coverage within the next several years. We have grown from a local player into an international scale-up.

TRAVIS: the new standard for road services

“The road transport sector is changing considerably. There is a rapid increase in the focus on sustainability and digitisation, as a result of which transport companies and their freight movements will look different. In order to remain relevant and competitive, I believe that carriers will constantly have to work on making their systems and processes smarter. Digitisation of their road services is a must, and that’s what TRAVIS offers,” says Dennis van Veggel, founder and CEO at TRAVIS. “Due to our vast European road service network accessible via the TRAVIS platform, fleet owners can optimise their planning gain control and with that reduce costs, detour mileage and idle time.”

From first customer to investor

Wil Versteijnen, director of GVT Transport & Logistics, started working with TRAVIS a long time ago and was actually TRAVIS’ first customer. Versteijnen explains: “TRAVIS’ online platform enables us to take a flexible approach to the cleaning of our fleet’s vehicles. The combination of a big service network and their online monitoring tools results in more transparency, both for us and our customers. Moreover, all transactions made within the TRAVIS network are automatically combined on one collective invoice. Altogether, the platform helps us to work smarter and to optimise where possible. Platforms like TRAVIS’ are the future. I believe that the industry will digitise at a fast pace. There is so much potential in solutions like the TRAVIS platform. That’s why it was a logical step to become an investor as well.

Contribution to the digitization in the industry

“The transportation and logistics sector is of special interest to us due to the strategic positioning of our ecosystem in Noord-Brabant towards the rest of Europe”, says Robin Franken, investment manager at BOM. “We are on a mission to make an impact by investing in fast-growing, innovative software companies that contribute to the digitisation and, therefore, the long-term sustainability of this sector. TRAVIS fits in that profile really well.”

Addressing a growing need in the commercial road transport

“Ever since our initial investment in 2019, we have been very impressed with the progress made by the Travis team. They have worked tirelessly to expand their network of service providers, customers and enhance their services for end-users,” says Peter van Giessel, Investment Director Shell Ventures. “Travis is addressing a growing need in the commercial road transport sector and needs to grow the organisation to meet their ambition. Hence, we are very happy to contribute to the funds needed to enable further growth. We look forward to continuing our collaborative working relationship with the team and bringing value to an expanding customer base.”
